The idea of inferiority complex has long puzzled me for ages. After moving back to Taiwan and being bombarded by all these western-race commercials, I thought I'd dig a little to see how it's manifested around town. Of course, this cannot be judged by a simple stroll around the streets and shops. However, there's no doubt that many businesses utilise this inferiority complex/internalized racism to sell their products. Whether it is effective or not, .... well... I honestly can't tell you. Here are the definitions of the terms from Wikipedia: Inferiority complex An intense personal feeling of inadequacy, often resulting in the belief that one is in some way deficient, or inferior, to others. Internalized racism Involves both conscious and unconscious acceptance of a racial hierarchy in which whites are consistently ranked above people of color. I'd love to hear from you.
